Police told Greenwich Time that an officer saw 19-year-old Andrew Schmidt driving a 2007 Hummer H3 and doing donuts in a field off Brook Drive on Saturday night. Two other teen drivers were also involved in the incident, which caused extensive damage to a 100-by-200 square foot patch of the field, Greenwich Time reported.

Schmidt was arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief, and was released after posting a $1,500 bond on Saturday, according to Greenwich Time.

Schmidt is already facing felony charges related to the death of 43-year-old Edward Setterberg on April 17, 2016. Police said Setterberg was struck by a car while walking in the area of Hillside Road and East Putnam Avenue, and that his body was found lying in the road. After an investigation, police said they determined that Schmidt had hit Setterberg and fled the scene.

Schmidt is being tried as an adult in the hit-and-run case, and was charged with evading responsibility following an accident that involves a fatality, assault and manslaughter.

The field where Schmidt was seen doing donuts will need to be resurfaced, graded, and replanted to repair the damage from the tire tracks, according to Greenwich Time.
