Protesters Chained To Crane Above Stamford Construction Project

STAMFORD -- Several people chained themselves to the boom of a crane above Summer Street in Stamford on Monday morning, according to ctnews.com.

One protester was brought down just before 9 a.m., but the others were still are on the crane, the website reported. 

The protesters unfurled a banner denouncing mining in West Virginia, police told The Hartford Courant. Police spokesman Capt. Richard Conklin said the protesters could face criminal charges.

Lower Summer Street was closed as authorities attempted to get the protesters down, the website reported.

The 15-story, 210-unit Trinity Park Square West apartment building at 66 Summer St. is under construction next to the Majestic movie theater in downtown Stamford.
