The Navins were reported missing from Easton in August. Their remains were discovered in the yard of a home on Norfield Road in Weston on Thursday afternoon and were positively identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner late Friday, state police said.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crime Squad applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Navin, 27, of Bridgeport and his girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante, 31, of Westport, according to police.

Valiente was taken into custody at her home at 8 p.m. Friday, police said. She was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree hindering prosecution. She was transported to New Haven detention and was held on $2 million bond.

Kyle Navin has been held in federal custody since he was charged with possession of a firearm by a drug addict in September. Police said there is now an active warrant for his arrest on two counts of murder and one count of murder with special circumstances.

Jeffrey Navin, 56, was president of J&J Refuse in Westport, where Kyle Navin was operations manager. Jeanette Navin, 55, was a library paraprofessional at Weston Intermediate School.

Some who knew Jeanette spoke highly of her Friday as police conducted their investigation.

The couple was last seen in Easton on Aug. 4, and they were reported missing on Aug. 7.
