At around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, police were dispatched to the Trader Joe's on a report of glass breaking. When officers arrived, they found a small hole in one of the front windows, and a brick just inside. They checked the inside of the store, but found no damage, police said.

Police checked the area and found 36-year-old Charles Taylor of West Warwick, Rhode Island. Police said that video footage obtained from the adjacent Chase Bank showed an individual, believed to be Taylor, walking toward the front of Trader Joe's with a brick in his hand.

When officers interviewed Taylor, he did not admit to breaking the window, but he did offer to pay for it, according to police.

Taylor told officers that he was in need of medical attention, and he was taken to Norwalk Hospital. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and charged with criminal mischief, and released on a promise to appear in court on Aug. 18.
