The rings were stolen from a 2015 Audi Q5 at some point between the evening of July 21 and the following morning. The car's owner told police that she parked at Equinox on Heights Road at 6 p.m. on July 21 and placed the three rings in the ash tray and covered them up. She worked out for an hour before driving to her home on Fitch Avenue. She told police that she believed she locked her doors.

At 8:15 a.m. the following morning she realized that the three rings were not in her house, and went out to check her car. She noticed that the ashtray was uncovered, and the sensor indicated that the passenger door had not been fully secured. There were no signs of forced entry to the car, and police said the passenger door had likely been left unlocked.

The three rings taken included an engagement ring worth $7,000, a wedding band worth $2,000 and another gold ring worth $1,000.

In an unrelated incident, a woman reported a Cartier watch was stolen stolen last week. The New Canaan resident told police she was working out at Equinox from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 22 when she took off her $2,780 watch and put it in the cup holder of a cardio machine. When she left the gym and went home, she realized she had left the watch behind. She called the gym and asked employees to check for the watch, but they were unable to find it.

The incidents remain under investigation.
