Police told the Stamford Advocate that a woman was sitting on the sidewalk outside the McDonald's on Wednesday night when 52-year-old Kevin Joyner walked up to her and spit on her and her belongings. The woman recognized Joyner from a local homeless shelter, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Joyner then walked inside the McDonald's to place an order, and made a comment to a Hispanic cashier about President Donald Trump's wall before threatening to kill the cashier, police told the Stamford Advocate.

The Stamford Advocate reported that Joyner was intoxicated and refused to leave the McDonald's when ordered to do so by security officials and police. He was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, threatening, and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a crack pipe on him, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The incident took place at the same McDonald's where a man was fatally stabbed in 2015. Police told the Stamford Advocate that they have stepped up patrols near the restaurant.
