A Newtown Avenue resident reported the burglary Jan. 29, police said. She returned home from picking up her kids at school and found footprints in the snow outside her home and signs that the house had been entered, according to police reports.

Assorted pieces of jewelry were reported missing, as well as $135 in bills and change from glass jars in each of two children’s rooms, police said.

A neighbor had spotted a young man and woman inside a sedan in the home’s driveway that afternoon, according to police reports. Two suspects matching that description in a similar car were arrested in Darien on Jan. 30 in a home invasion, Darien Police said at the time.

Alexis Jordan, 22, has been accused of entering a Darien home that day and striking a 68-year-old resident in the head when confronted, according to police reports. Jordan and Michael Apuzzo, 24, both of Hamden, have been in police custody since then awaiting trial, according to court records.

Investigators applied for a search warrant for their Hamden home, where police found some of the items stolen from the Norwalk house, police said. Anabolic steroids and unmarked prescription medications were also found in a safe in Apuzzo’s room, according to the arrest report.

Jordan and Apuzzo were taken to court Friday and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and conspiracy. Apuzzo was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to keep prescription drugs in their original container and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school. Each is held on $50,000 bond on the Norwalk charges.
