Valiante, 31, pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to commit murder and hindering prosecution, choosing a trial by jury, according to the report.

Navin, 27, let his lawyer Eugene Riccio speak for him, according to the report. Riccio asked for a continuance to decide if they will request a hearing on probable cause, the Connecticut Post reported.

Valiante's lawyer, Elliot Warren, said he wants to study the state's case before attempting to have Valiante's $2 million bond reduced, according to the report.

Navin was officially charged Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the deaths of his parents, Jeanette and Jeffrey Navin of Easton. The Navins had been reported missing in August by family members, prompting a statewide search. Their bodies were discovered in the yard of an abandoned home in Weston in late October. Navin and Valiante were charged that week.

Navin will return to court on Dec. 16 and Valiante will return on Jan. 12, according to the Connecticut Post.
