DARIEN, Conn. -- A Stamford woman had the trunk stolen from her new Honda just before lunch on Thursday while it was parked at a Darien spa, officials said.

The victim, 75, parked her 2017 Accord the lot Lanphier Spa just after 11 a.m. She returned to the car two hours later to find the trunk lid missing. The victim then discovered that the thieves had forced open her driver-side door and stolen the steering wheel airbag as well, Darien Police said.

No other vehicles in the are were disturbed.

Police estimate the value of the parts stolen at around $3,000. No suspects have been identified, police said.

Car part robberies have been popping up in other Fairfield County communities as well.

A Wilton commuter returned to the train station to find two doors removed from his car on March 29. A Fairfield woman also reported the theft of the hatchback from her Toyota Highlander while it was parked near the Pequot last month.
