NORWALK, Conn. -- Police arrested three people after finding a loaded pistol and marijuana in a car that failed to stop at a stop sign in Norwalk on Monday, according to police.

Police said that Officer Figueroa observed the stop sign violation at the intersection of West Cedar Street and Technology Place on Monday and stopped the car. He immediately smelled the odor of marijuana and ask the three occupants of the car to step out, police said.

K-9 Rainor indicated the presence of drugs in the car, and after a search police found marijuana as well as a loaded Glock .40 caliber pistol in a backpack in the back seat, according to police.

The three occupants were identified as 26-year-old Denzel Weldon of Norwalk, 26-year-old William Harper of Greenwich and 21-year-old Daynasha Bland of Greenwich. They were arrested on a number of weapons and drug violations, including weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, and conspiracy. Weldon was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm and failure to obey a stop sign.

All three were given $50,000 bonds and court dates of Dec. 19.
