In the first incident, police were called to a home on Weeds Landing at about 12:40 p.m. The owner, who was home at the time, confronted Clarence Patterson, 53, of Hawley Avenue in Bridgeport, who had broken into the house, police said.

Police said Patterson forcibly broke into the house, but the department did not disclose how he did it. When the homeowner confronted him, Patterson ran off toward the nearby Post Road and got into a car, police said.

Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and alerted nearby police departments, police said. Stamford police apprehended him and an alleged accomplice, Amber Jenkins, 30, of Franklin Street in Stamford, a short while later, police said.

Both were charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. Patterson posted $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 6. Jenkins was released on a promise to appear in court also on May 6.

In the second incident, which occurred at about 3:15 p.m., a Noroton Avenue homeowner returned home to discover that their house had been burglarized and ransacked, police said. An undisclosed amount of jewelry and electronic items were reported stolen, police said.

Undisclosed investigative efforts resulted in officers discovering that the stolen items were in a Milford hotel, police said. The items were recovered at the hotel, where police said they also arrested Philip Michael Rivera, 27, of Bunnel Street in Bridgeport.

Rivera was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and fourth-degree larceny, both misdemeanors. He was held on $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
