STAMFORD, Conn. -- Two men were arrested in bust that netted more than a pound of marijuana in Stamford on Thursday, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad had received information that a marijuana deal was going to go down at a residence on Woodland Avenue Thursday afternoon, and officers conducted surveillance in the area where it was going to take place, the Stamford Advocate reported. They watched a car pull in and another man approach, and after a conversation they retrieved something from the trunk and both got in the car, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police moved in and detained the two, according to the Stamford Advocate. They searched the car and found several heat-sealed bags containing a total of 22.4 ounces of marijuana, police told the Stamford Advocate. Officers also found a total of $3,200 in cash, the Stamford Advocate reported.

The two men, identified as 24-year-old Jesus Melendez of Port Chester and Richard Laiz of Bridgeport, were charged with possession of more than a quarter pound of marijuana and sale of a controlled substance, the Stamford Advocate reported. They were released on $10,000 bonds, according to the Stamford Advocate.
