The department purchased a Cygnus KS-102 Reflectorless Total Station, a "pixie pole" for elevated photography, a data collector and a Canon 6D digital camera system (pictured above).
The Weston Gun Club Community Foundation is a charity organization and is the sole beneficiary of The Modern Biathlon, a day of golf, clay target shooting, dinner and auctions.
The foundation has been active for 17 years making grants to various town organizations and schools. Nearly $200,000 has been donated in 37 grants, averaging $5,300 per grant. Past recipients include the Weston Town Hall, Weston Senior Center, Devils Den Nature Preserve, Parks, Weston Historical Society, the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, and the Weston Police Department.
The Weston Public Schools received the most grants with 14. The grants include the three-year funding required to initiate a new sport at the Weston High School (the accomplished girl's golf team), the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program, the Diversity Program, the JV Lacrosse Program, a tablet system to assist teachers, a Smartboard for the photography class. A recent grant was used to purchase cameras and equipment for the photography class.
