Michael McCrorken, 28, turned himself in to police on Dec. 5 and was charged with first-degree failure to appear. He was held on $25,000 bond for arraignment that day in Norwalk Superior Court.

McCrorken was charged in September with second-degree larceny and 37 counts of first-degree forgery for writing the checks from his employer, the owner of A Dash of Salt, a Post Road East catering company, police said.

The victim filed a fraud complaint with Westport Police on May 1, after he discovered digital copies of 37 checks made out to McCrorken from his business. The signatures on the checks were not the owner’s, police said.

Westport police originally arrested McCrorken on a warrant when he went for an appointment at the Adult Probation Office in Norwalk.
