WESTPORT, Conn. — A man pretending to be a guest stole wedding gifts from a reception Saturday night at the Longshore Inn in Westport, according to the Hartford Courant.

The man grabbed a birdcage that was holding the gifts and ran from the inn, Westport police told the Courant.

Officers used a police dog from the Norwalk Police Department but did not locate the suspect, the Courant said.

The man was described as 25 to 30 years old, with close cut light brown hair, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Westport Police Department at 203-341-6000.
