Tiffany Falcone, 44, of Ocean Avenue, was charged with third-degree forgery and fourth-degree larceny, police said. She was held on $10,000 bond.
The arrest stems from a June 2016 incident in which the Westport man received an overdue payment notice from his landscaper, police said.
The man said he put the payment in his mailbox along with other outgoing mail in February 2016, but police believe Falcone stole the check from the box, altered it and cashed it via her own Green Dot Bank account.
A search warrant for her account information revealed the transaction for $1,949.93, the exact amount of the man’s payment, police said.
On June 3, Westport officers took custody of Falcone at the Branford Police Department.
She is scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
