Windows Smashed In Car Break-Ins At Holmes School In Darien

DARIEN, Conn. -- The windows of two cars were smashed out and items were taken at Holmes School in Darien in two separate incidents last week, according to police.

The first incident took place the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 2. A woman who worked in the school reported that she had parked her car at the elementary school on Hoyt Street at around 1 p.m. after eating lunch. At around 3:30 p.m. she returned to her car and found that the front passenger side window had been smashed.

Taken from her car was about $100 in cash, a purse valued at $300, a pair of sunglasses valued at $200, a second pair of sunglasses valued at $300, credit cards, and a driver's license. 

The second burglary took place the next day. Another employee of the school said she parked her car in the school lot at around 8:20 a.m., and was notified by a third party at around 1 p.m. that her car's window had been smashed, police said.

Taken from her car was about $30 in cash, a wallet valued at $100, two credit cards, 10 checks, a dress, a purse valued at $200, and a driver's license.  

Police said the investigation is ongoing in both cases.
