DARIEN, Conn. — A 44-year-old woman was arrested on an assault charge after she bit a victim twice during an argument over text messages, Darien police said.

Darien officers were dispatched at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday on a report of an argument between two people that had become physical, police said.

The victim told officers that that the argument broke out between the two over the woman's cellphone and text messages between her and her co-worker, police said.

At some point during the argument, Catherine London physically attacked the victim, include scratching and biting the victim twice, police said.

Officers observed corroborating injuries on the victim’s body, police said.

London told officers that an altercation had taken place but gave a different version of events, police said.

Based on their investigation, London was placed under arrest and charged with third-degree assault, police said.

She was processed at headquarters and released on a written promise to appear in court on Nov. 13. She was given release conditions that forbid her from having any contact with the victim.
