DARIEN, Conn. – A Darien woman was arrested last week on shoplifting charges dating back to November, police said.
Employees at Double Exposure on Post Road called police Nov. 19 to report a theft that had occurred four days earlier. A woman was seen in the store removing a tag from a dress valued at $54 on one of the store’s racks, employees told police. Video surveillance later showed the woman taking the dress and five others into the fitting room, and leaving with one of the items concealed, according to police reports.
A store employee provided police with a license plate number for the suspect’s car, which led back to a Hoyt Street home. The car’s owner told police that Anne Curtis, 32, of that address was using the car at the time, police said. Curtis later admitted to taking the item and promised to return it, but she had not done so after several weeks, according to police reports.
Darien Police filed for a warrant for Curtis’s arrest, and she turned herself in Friday. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 3.
