DARIEN, Conn. – Even though the majority of Darien voters picked Mitt Romney and Linda McMahon as their candidates in this election, both were still defeated. The Daily Voice readers have been responding to the losses on Facebook .

Several of our Facebook friends liked it when we announced that Mitt Romney had won the Darien vote. Guy Wisinski wrote, “It shows the intelligence of Darien and [I] wish the remainder of the state and country could learn from us.”

When it was announced that Barack Obama had won re-election, Maddie Lamedica wrote, “Well, I get to keep my health insurance under my parents’ name until I’m 26 under Obama, so I’m happy with the outcome of the election. Before Obama, I was going to lose my health insurance because I’m a part-time student.”

Five readers liked the status update announcing that Chris Murphy had defeated McMahon in the Senate race. Tina Duryea wrote, “It was what I voted for so I’m happy.”

But Troy Jennings wrote, “It’s a tragedy. Linda was a great woman who was going to help get our fiscal house in order."

Chuck Adcock wrote, “As a Republican, I was disgusted by her candidacy, all negative and no substance. I hope the CT GOP has learned its lesson, we could have won if we had a positive, honest and respected candidate like [Chris] Shays.”

Four people liked the announcement that Elizabeth Hagerty-Ross, Sara Schneider-Zuro and Katie Stein had won the open seats on the Darien Board of Education, though nobody commented on that story.
