The one-term Republican made the announcement – as so many politicians seem to do these days – via her Twitter account, @JaymeStevenson.

“It's official,” she wrote, accompanied with the hashtag #darien. “I hope to earn the Darien RTC's nomination for First Selectman.”

Two years ago, Stevenson defeated Democrat John A. Lundeen and Ultra-Conservative Party candidate Chris Noe.

Noe has also announced his intention to run again, and his party is looking for additional selectmen candidates. Darien Democrats have yet to officially announce a candidate. Lundeen did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Stevenson also was not available for comment Tuesday evening.
