Darien Republicans Seek Candidates For Town Boards And Commissions

DARIEN, Conn. --  The Darien Republican Town Committee will be meeting with and interviewing candidates who are interested in standing for election this November to serve on the town's boards and commissions.

The committee will nominate up to 15 registered Republican candidates to be considered for endorsement by the full Darien Republican caucus, tentatively scheduled to be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 27. The maximum number of Darien Republican candidates to be nominated by the committee for each position is as follows: 

  • First Selectman (1) 
  • Board of Selectman (2) 
  • Board of Finance (2) 
  • Board of Education (2) 
  • Planning & Zoning Commission (2) 
  • Town Clerk (1) 
  • Tax Collector (1) 
  • Treasurer (1) 
  • Board of Assessment Appeals (1) 
  • Constable (2)

Individuals interested in interviewing with the committee for these positions should contact James Palen, committee chairman, at (917) 576-2356 or by email at jamespalen@me.com to schedule a time to meet with the committee at its meetings in either April, May, June or July.

The committee also is seeking registered Republicans interested in joining the committee to fill a vacancy created by the passing of Peter Truebner, who served on the committee the past five years and on the Darien Police Commission prior to that. Interested individuals should contact Palen no later than March 9 in order to obtain an application and schedule an interview with the committee at its March 11 meeting.
