DARIEN, Conn. – Drainage improvements to Intervale Road in Darien, and repairs to the dilapidated tennis courts at Weed Beach, are among the items the Board of Selectmen will discuss Monday night.
The two long-gestating projects have been among those discussed under the town’s capital budget, but the selectmen are considering the issuance of bonds to pay for them.
Combined, the two projects will cost just under $2 million, with the drainage project totaling $1.5 million and the tennis court repairs running $460,000.
The drainage project will include the installation of new, larger underground pipes that will better handle storm runoff and help alleviate flooding of properties along the road. The tennis project calls for the renovation of six courts, where underground roots led to the buckling and cracking of the playing surface.
Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. in Room 206 of Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.
