Darien Voters Choose State Reps, Board Of Ed Members Next Week

DARIEN, Conn. – Darien voters will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in elections for the state General Assembly and the Darien Board of Education, as well as races for governor and Congress.

The town of Darien is divided into six voting districts, comprising two state Senate districts and two State House of Representative districts. Check out the Registrar of Voters website to find out which district you live in, as well as where to vote on Tuesday.

In State House District 141, Republican incumbent Terrie Wood is running unopposed. This district also includes parts of Norwalk.

In State House District 147, Democratic incumbent William Tong is facing off against Republican challenger Dennis Mahoney. This district also includes Stamford.

In State Senate District 25, Democratic incumbent Bob Duff is facing Republican challenger William Dunne. This district also includes Norwalk.

In State Senate District 27, Democratic incumbent Carlo Leone is facing Republican challenger Eva Maldonado and Green Party challenger David Michel.

There are two open seats on the Darien Board of Education this year. Republican incumbents David Dineen and Michael Harman are both seeking re-election against Democratic challengers Tony Imbimbo and Michael Burke.

For Judge of Probate Court, Republican William Osterndorf is running unopposed to fill the position currently held by Republican Michael Murray, who is not seeking re-election. The probate district also includes New Canaan.

Democratic Registrar of Voters Kathy Hammell and Republican Registrar of Voters John Visi are both seeking re-election this year in uncontested races.

Darien voters will be asked one question on the ballot: Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to remove restrictions concerning absentee ballots and to permit a person to vote without appearing at a polling place on the day of an election?

In the race for the 4th District of the U.S. House of Representatives, Darien voters will be asked to choose between Democratic incumbent Jim Himes and Republican challenger Dan Debicella. Himes, a Greenwich resident, has served three terms in Congress. Debicella is a Shelton businessman who previously served in the State Senate. The two previously ran against each other in 2010.

In the governor’s race, Darien voters will join others statewide in choosing between Democratic incumbent Dannel P. Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley. Other state races on the ballot include lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, comptroller and attorney general.
