Darien's Rep. Terrie Wood Returns To Legislature For Fourth Term

DARIEN, CONN. – Darien-based state Representative Terrie Wood (R-141) was sworn in to serve her fourth term on Wednesday.

This is her first term as assistant Republican leader, a title House Republican Leader Themis Klarides gave to her.

She continues as Ranking Member of the Legislature’s Human Services Committee.

The Human Services Committee covers all matters relating to the Department of Social Services and the Department of Children and Families, including five other institutions under their jurisdiction.

The departments are the Office of Child Day Care, the Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, the Commission on the Deaf and the Hearing Impaired and the Board of Education and Services for the Blind.

Wood will be the highest appointed Republican on the committee during this legislative session.

“I look forward to continuing my role as Ranking Member of the Human Services committee, a committee in which I have gained long-standing experience,” said Wood in a statement.

“As always, my main priorities going into session will be bringing common sense solutions to the social and economic problems our state faces.”

She also announced her legislative committee assignments for the upcoming two years, serving on the legislature's Regulations Review Committee and Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

The legislative session will run until Wednesday,June 3.
