U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy is heading toward Newtown — on foot — in preparation for a Town Hall meeting with voters Wednesday evening.

For the second summer in a row, the senator is embarking on a “Walk Across Connecticut.” He has taken to the streets and dirt roads of the state to listen to and get feedback from Connecticut residents.

Murphy began his walk in Killingly on Sunday morning, and is walk 103 miles through 21 towns. He will finish the walk Thursday in Danbury.

Members of the public are invited to attend Murphy’s town halls. The Newtown Town Hall is tonight at 6:45 p.m. in the gym at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main St., Newtown.

Murphy's walk will end with a picnic in Danbury on Thursday, Aug. 17, at noon at Rogers Park, 21 Memorial Drive.

This year's itinerary took Murphy on an inland route through the Nutmeg State. Last year, he walked along the coastline. Murphy made a stop in Stratford last year, then walked through Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk, Darien and Stamford before holding a last day picnic in Greenwich.
