In an email to Republican Town Committee Chairman Brent Hayes, Stevenson said fellow Republican selectmen Susan Marks and Kip Koons would also seek re-election, although the Darien Times did not confirm that.

In 2015, Stevenson was challenged by two unaffiliated first selectman candidates, the Times said. Democrats did not field a first selectman candidate in 2015 or 2013, the Darien Times said.

Current Democratic Town Committee Chairman David Bayne told The Darien Times that Democratic Selectmen Rob Richards and Marc Thorne have not decided on whether to seek re-election, no decision has been made on a first selectman candidate.
