“The Weston DTC is honored that two Westonites of the caliber of Don and Mike have joined our committee and will be giving even more of themselves to public service and the Democratic Party,” said Fran Goldstein, DTC chair. “New members revitalize any group organization, and I’m anxious to work with both of them in fulfilling their goals as we move forward.”
Scarborough is an alternate on Weston’s Zoning Board of Appeals. After retiring from a career in in the publishing and printing industry, he has volunteered for the Poughkeepsie YMCA capital fund, Dutchess County Rehabilitation Programs and Henry Abbott Tech’s regional public high school printing program.
He has been a member of Casperkill Game Club for more than 50 years and has served as a board member, primarily as treasurer, for 25 years. Scarborough is a graduate of Wellesley College and Cornell University.
Beth Gralnick, vice chairman of the DTC and the Weston Police Commission, is a neighbor of Scarborough and introduced him to the DTC and to campaigning within Weston for local to national political campaigns.
“Beth obviously struck a note of interest, and I find it to be an interesting way to be involved while meeting town residents,” Scarborough said. “The ZBA led to a broader politically based involvement, thus the DTC.”
Scarborough moved to Weston in 2000 with his wife, Bonnie. They have two adult children, Beth, who also lives in Weston, and Tom, who lives in the northwest United States as a river guide
Zegers is a member of Weston’s Conservation Commission. A past board member of the Weston Education Foundation, he is a volunteer with The Nature Conservancy and a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.
Now retired, Zegers primarily worked in operations and technology for financial institutions, including AIG, Industrial Bank of Japan, Bear Stearns and JP Morgan, as well as working as an environmental engineering consultant.
“Now that I am retired, I have some time for the many volunteer needs to help the town progress [just as] others have done before me,” Zegers said. “I wanted to join the DTC to get more involved with the town.”
A graduate of Columbia University and New York University’s MBA program, he has lived in Weston for 22 years, with his wife, Melissa Katz. They have two children -- one has graduated from Weston High School and the other is a junior there.
