Yorktown PD Charge Man with Assault of Officer, Mischief

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- A Yorktown man faces charges of assault in the second degree and criminal mischief, both felonies, after he allegedly assaulted a police officer and kicked out the rear window of a patrol vehicle.

Police responded to a call from a Yorktown residence where it had been reported,  “a person was acting out of control” on Tuesday at 4:25 p.m. Police officers Jason Swart and Sam Sansone responded to the call and found Brandon Gironda, 18, of 541 Vine Rd., acting violently, according to police. Gironda allegedly kicked Officer Swart in the knee causing physical injury and after being placed under arrest was placed in the patrol vehicle where he then allegedly kicked out the rear window of the vehicle.

He was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lie of $1,000 dollars and is due to appear in Yorktown Court on September 1 at 6 p.m.
