U.S. House of Representatives candidate, Derickson K. Lawrence, took part in the protest.

“I am joining you to today because we have an incumbent that has voted for military intervention at every opportunity – Afghanistan; regime change in Iraq; regime change in Libya—at an incalculable cost to the American public, with disastrous outcomes in the Middle East,” Lawrence told the group. “Further, when the incumbent uses terms like 'pre-emptive strikes' in the run-up to the Iran Nuclear Deal -- i.e., 2015 -- it means that the painful lessons of Iraq war have had little impact on judgement.”

On the environmental front, the organization recently spoke out against the Algonquin pipeline project -- a planned gas pipeline alongside Indian Point nuclear plant.

“If the pipeline leaks or breaks, its contents would detonate the switch that sits 400 feet from the gas line. At such close proximity to a decaying nuclear plant, that installation has to be a major source of concern to all residents and business owners in this region,” Lawrence added.
