DARIEN, Conn. Ox Ridge Elementary School Assistant Principal Luke Forshaw has been chosen as the new principal of the Darien school. He replaces John Rechi, who is retiring at the end of the year after 26 years as Ox Ridges principal.
Forshaw has spent his career in the Darien school system. He began as an elementary school teacher before becoming the districts technology integration specialist. Two years ago he was appointed assistant principal of Ox Ridge.
During his tenure in Darien, he has been part of teams that have revised curriculum for elementary instructional technology, social studies, math and library and informational technology. He has also been active in program oversight and development at Ox Ridge, including special education. He has also given many presentations to school and parent groups on topics such as digital media, literacy and technology.
Forshaw graduated from Trinity College with a major in psychology and a minor in elementary education. He earned a master's degree in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College at Columbia University, where he is now completing requirements for his doctorate.
Forshaw will begin his duties July 1.
