Darien Boy Finds Way To National Geographic Bee

Middlesex Middle School sixth-grader Michael Borecki won the Connecticut State Geography Bee on Friday, earning a spot in the National Geographic Bee in Washington, D.C. This is the fifth time a student from Darien has won the state competition, the most wins by any town in Connecticut.

Borecki qualified for the state level event by winning his school competition in December. This was his third trip to the state bee. He will be traveling with Middlesex librarian Barbara Ivey on May 24 and 25 to the Nationals, which will be hosted by Alex Trebek.
