DARIEN, Conn. – Darien High School has been ranked the seventh best high school in the state and 324th best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The report awarded Darien a gold medal for its performance.

The rankings are based on student performance on state exit exams and college-level coursework such as the Advanced Placement exams.

According to the report, Darien High School has an AP exam participation rate of 56 percent. The average student took three AP exams, with 89 percent scoring passing grades.

“Though I am happy that Darien High School is on the Top 10 list, I also know full well that what makes an excellent school goes far beyond the often limited criteria used to create these numerical rankings,” Principal Dan Haron said.
