Darien High School Principal To Step Down

DARIEN, Conn. — Darien High School Principal Dan Haron will be stepping down from his position at the end of this school year. In an email sent to the school community Wednesday night, Haron announced he will be moving to the field of real estate development.

"The decision was not an easy one because of my deep connection to DHS, its students, its staff and the greater Darien community that supports it," Haron wrote in the email.

Haron will be joining his two brothers, cousin and other partners in the New York-based real estate development company his father started 30 years ago.

"It is a company with a strong moral compass and a culture that is consistent with my values. The company's vision transcends mere buildings and structures by aiming to change entire communities for the people who live in them."

Haron wrote that as anxious and excited as he is about his new venture, he is sad to be leaving Darien High School, where he has been for 14 years.

"I consider myself extremely fortunate to have matured and developed as an educator in such a vibrant and supportive community," he wrote. "I feel blessed to have been a colleague to such an extraordinary faculty and staff, and I feel humbled by the fact that parents in this town had entrusted their most precious "commodity" — their children — in my hands."
