Darien Honors 3 Students As Memorial Day Essay Contest Winners

DARIEN, Conn. -- Two students, one from Darien High School, and the other from Middlesex Middle School, have been named winners of this year's Memorial Day Essay contest hosted by the Monuments and Ceremonies Commission for the Town of Darien.

Middlesex Middle School student Matthew Bergwall was selected for his essay "For Me," and Darien High School student Erin Corrigan won for her essay "Remember The Fallen."

Students in each school were invited to submit an essay or poem on the meaning of Memorial Day.

Both students' will read their pieces at the Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery in Spring Grove immediately following the parade.
