DARIEN, Conn. -- Middlesex Middle School in Darien will host a study skills workshop for middle school students in August.
The workshop, presented by Southport-based Successful Study Skills 4 Students, foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn and achieve better academic success.
The S4 workshop for students in grades five-eight will run from Tuesday, Aug. 12, to Thursday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Middlesex Middle School, 204 Hollow Tree Ridge Road.
“We are pleased to host S4 at Middlesex Middle School this summer as students prepare to go back to school,” said Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4 Study Skills. “Learning study skills lays a solid foundation for students to achieve their goals in school and beyond, and it boosts their confidence in their approach to their studies.
“Whether students are facing a transition into middle school or just looking to improve their overall academic experience, we offer tools that can help them succeed,” continued Sagalyn.
The S4 program is designed to bolster academic confidence, motivation, and test and homework preparation as academic workload and course expectations rise. The focus of S4 workshops includes: note-taking skills; active learning strategies; understanding main ideas and important details; time management; organization; and preparation strategies for quizzes, tests and long-term projects.
The three-session, 7.5-hour workshop costs $395. There is a 10 percent sibling discount. To register, visit the S4 website.
The workshops include all in-class materials, original S4 Teach Sheets for each skill taught, and emails sent to parents after each session. Class size limited to 15.
