DARIEN, Conn. The second-graders at Ox Ridge Elementary planted 200 flower bulbs last week for the schools new edible garden . Green Team co-chairs Sarah Sealy and Kristin Collier taught the children how to plant five kinds of bulbs that will eventually bloom into tulips, alliums, grape hyacinths, daffodils and crocuses.
Each student was given two bulbs to plant. In the classroom, the students learned about the different parts of a bulb and wrote about how the bulbs look, feel and smell.
