DARIEN, Conn. – Darien public schools will open Monday and Tuesday on a 90-minute delay. Pear Tree Point School will remain closed on Monday.
All schools will have power and all bus routes have been cleared of debris, Superintendent Stephen Falcone announced Sunday afternoon.
Tuesday had originally been scheduled as a day off for students and a professional development day for teachers. The delay will allow teachers to have professional development in the morning, and for voters to attend polling sites in the morning with minimal traffic interference.
“We are sensitive to any situations regarding living conditions that might result in student absences, though we ask that you do report absences to the respective school offices,” Falcone said in a statement released Sunday. “We will be reviewing marking period and academic calendars for appropriate adjustments given this unprecedented weather event.”
Any bus-related questions should be directed to the schools’ Transportation Department at 203-656-7475.
