Darien Student Named National Geographic Bee State Semifinalist

DARIEN, Conn. – A fifth-grade student at Darien’s Royle School was recently named a semifinalist for the 2015 Connecticut National Geographic State Bee.

Brandon Liu, the son of Liqun Li and Shichang Liu, won the Geographic Bee held at Royle School.

He and other semifinalists will compete in the state bee on Friday, March 27, at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

The award for state champion includes $100 and a trip to the National Geographic Bee Championship in Washington, D.C.

Prizes for the national champion include a $50,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galápagos Islands.
