DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien's Depot Teen Center is hosting Essential Study Skills workshops this month for middle school and high school students.
The Essential Study Skills workshop teaches key study strategies that help improve grades, motivation and focus. The workshops are designed to bolster academic confidence, motivation and preparation as academic workload and expectations increase rise. Skills taught include: planning, organizing, executive functioning strategies, as well as quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies.
The dates for middle school students are 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays on Nov. 7, 14 and 21. For high school students, the workshop is noon to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays on Nov. 7, 14 and 21. The 7.5 hour workshop is $395.
The workshops include all in-class materials, original S4 Teach Sheets for each skill taught, and post-parent emails after each session. Class size limited to 15.
“Whether students are looking to acquire basic skills in organization, time management, and executive functioning strategies, or simply looking to improve their overall academic experience, these tools – when used – will help them succeed. Implementing even a single new skill has been shown to boost students’ motivation and academic performance," said president of S4 Michelle Sagalyn.
The Depot Youth Center is at 25 Heights Road.
