The film, "Students Tell All: What Parents Really Need to Know," will be screened followed by a panel discussion for parents of middle and high school students. The event hosted by the YWCA Parents Awareness and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), will be held Wednesday, April 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Darien Town Hall auditorium, 2 Renshaw Road.
YWCA Parent Awareness and SADD will present a brief film written and produced by members of SADD and designed to bring awareness to parents of the challenges confronting high school students today. In this film, students address eating disorders, distracted driving, stress and the pressure to succeed, communication between parents and teens, and reveal what teens face on a regular basis.
Following the viewing, law enforcement officers, educators and mental health experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide parents with tools on how to address these emotionally charged issues. Panelists include Beth DIiorio, Town of Darien Police Officer; T. Court Isaac, Town of Darien Traffic/Motorcycle Officer; Dr. Barbara Greenberg, Teen Adolescent Consultant at Silver Hill Hospital; Matt Pavia, from Darien High School; and Candace Brindley, Certified Family Relationship Coach.
All YWCA Parent Awareness programs are provided free of charge.
