DARIEN, Conn. Twenty-four of Darien High Schools most accomplished young musicians will perform at the state's Western Region Music Festival Jan. 13 and 14 at the high school. The event is sponsored by the Connecticut Music Educators Association .
The students, from band, orchestra, chorus and jazz ensembles, will perform with high school musicians from around the state under the baton of nationally renowned educators and conductors. All student participants will be eligible to audition for the Connecticut All-State Festival. The honors ensemble concerts will take place in the DHS auditorium on Jan. 14. The band and orchestra concert will be at 3:30 p.m., and the jazz ensemble and chorus concert will be at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.
The students representing DHS at the festival are: Julia Evans, Danica Hornick, Charles Stout, Nick Vilter, Matt Evans, Nicole Gagne, Chris Janson, Ryo Usami, Charlie Baird, Hannah Caldwell, Patrick Collins, Florian Eenkema van Dijk, Matthew Hayes, Amanda Hutter, Kevin Koenitzer, Reed Morgan, Douglas Phipps, Juliane Roach, Lily Saffa, Addison Thalhamer, Steven Ciasullo, Jeffrey Sload, Andrew Trautmann and Melanie Turner.
These students have consistently worked and studied over several years to be chosen as among the finest high school musicians in Western Connecticut, and we are all extremely proud of their musical accomplishments, said Darien Music Director Rick Sadlon in a statement. These students are to be commended for doing a fine job of representing Darien High School and our town at this prestigious regional event.
