DARIEN, Conn. -- Students at Holmes School in Darien celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday by displaying works of art created from garbage.
Putting the idea of "reduce, reuse, recycle" into action, the students used pieces of garbage to create more than 50 projects that were displayed in the art show. The students worked on their projects at home, at school and with friends. The art show was planned by parents Susie Flaherty and Jennie Hageney.
"The art show idea resonated with us because it was a hands-on learning experience that allowed them to use their imagination and put their own spin on it," Hageney said.
The Darien Nature Center has reached out to Holmes about displaying some of the eco-art pieces.
