Holmes Students In Darien Celebrate Black History Month In Song

DARIEN, Conn. -- Holmes School second-graders hosted a concert of songs on Friday, Feb. 27,  called "Lift Every Voice," to celebrate Black History Month.

Songs included “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” words by James Weldon Johnson and music by J. Rosamond Johnson; “I Have a Dream,” by John Jacobson and Rollo Dilworth; “Back of the Bus,” traditional song adapted by Mary Jane Pigee; “Hallelujah, Get on Board,” traditional spiritual arranged by Rollo Dilworth; “Down By the Riverside,” traditional spiritual; and “Star Spangled Banner,” words by Francis Scott Key.
