The sixth-graders in Jacqueline Kelly's English classes at Middlesex Middle School recently went to visit the second-graders and a first-grade class at Holmes School in Darien. The sixth-graders spent several weeks reading advanced level non-fiction biographies and then used the information from their research to write an original book on a second grade reading level, including a glossary.
The students partnered with Holmes School students to read and discuss the books. The Darien kids all built new friendships in the process.
