The graduate lineup will start at 4 p.m. inside the West Campus building. Graduation candidates are grouped according to the degree or certificate program. At 4:30 p.m., a Pipers Band will lead the student processional into the tent.

The Class Speakers will be graduating students Ingrid Magalhaes and Mackenzie Raub, both liberal arts and science majors. NCC has a long tradition of choosing students to be graduation speakers. Dean of Students, Dr. Calvin J. McFadden Sr., will introduce the student speakers.

David Levinson, president of NCC and vice president of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education, will welcome graduates, guests and dignitaries. Nicolas Donofrio, chairman of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education, will present greetings from the Board of Regents.

The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to The Norwalk Community Health Center for improving the health and well-being of the NCC student body. The center provides free health care at its Health on Wheels bus, which is parked on the college campus one morning each week. The mobile medical unit offers walk-in medical, dental, and mental health services to students and their children.

Alumnus Matthew Quinones (Class of 2009), chief executive officer of the Stamford Public Education Foundation, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. He is a Stamford native and a member of the Stamford Board of Representatives.

Award-winning writers and filmmakers Karen Thorsen and Douglas K. Dempsey will be receiving honorary degrees. Thorsen wrote, directed and co-produced with Dempsey the feature-length documentary "James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket," which was featured at NCC in February.

After a musical performance by the NCC Choir, Interim Dean of Academic Affairs Vanessa Morest will present diplomas to the graduates.

Immediately after the ceremony, the college will host a reception to honor graduates and their families in a tent on the West Campus.
