The Darien 8th grade girls defeated Norwalk, 40-31, in their division. The 8th grade White boys team defeated Trumbull in the title game, 53-45. The 7th grade Blue team beat St. Patrick’s of Bedford, N.Y., 51-40, for the title.
The 8th grade girls, coached by Erin McHugh, finished the season at 12-9. Darien beat Westport, 46-33, and then squeaked out a 46-44 win over Southbury in the semifinals. Darien’s team members were Katie Ramsey, Fiona Taney, Christine Fiore, Elizabeth Petner, LilyDavis, Caroline Martzolf, Ashley Colica, Emily Denunzio, Julia Colica and Gabrielle Colica.
The 8th grade White boys team, coached by Giancarlo Cowan, beat Weston Blue in the semifinals, 49-37, and Redding-Easton in the first round, 61-31. Darien's team members were Jamie Mitchell, Dillon O'Shea, Ryan Griffin, Max Gasvoda, Carter Hollis, Justin Van de Graaf, Sean Collins, Griffin Ott, Kevin Grune and Cameron Raia.
Sean Myler coached the Darien 7th grade Blue boys team. Darien, 13-8, beat Westport, 65-56, in the semifinals and squeaked past Southbury, 52-51, in its first tournament game. Darien’s team members were Connor Fay, Will Rolapp, Jack Bogdan, AJ Arledge, Ryan Darby, Tyler Sylvester, Glen Fay, Henry Williams,Peter Bredahl and Tyler Herget.
