With her team's three-game winning streak on the line, Leigh Harrison sank two free throws for her only points of the game, putting the Darien YMCA sixth-grade girls basketball team ahead for good. It capped an improbable 10-point fourth quarter comeback after trailing Norwalk GBA until the final minute. Sammy Aparicio added an insurance point and Darien stayed undefeated in league play, winning 19-17.
The Darien girls were frustrated for most of the game, putting up agonizingly close shots that just did not want to go in. Those shots that barely missed in the first three quarters finally went in during the fourth. An enthusiastic Darien crowd went wild as the girls got closer and closer to victory.
Aparicio led the team with seven points, while Laura Murphy added four.
Norwalk's Asiah Knight had a game-high 10 points. Amanda Rebecca and Brianna Brown contributed three and two points, respectively.
