NORWALK, Conn. -- The Connecticut Concussion Conference will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford, and Friday, Jan. 31, at Quinnipiac University School of Medicine in North Haven.

Pink Concussions, an international social media organization focused on research and resources for women with concussions from sports, accidents or military service, and SportsCAPP, a concussion education, advocacy and policy group, arranged the conference. Both groups are headed by Norwalk’s Katherine Snedaker. To register, visit

The Concussion Conference will provide training sessions for schools, pediatricians, athletic trainers, and parents on how best to help children return to school and continue to heal after concussions. The conference will feature multiple national speakers.

The event is endorsed by: Association of School Nurses of Connecticut, Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, Connecticut Association of Schools, Connecticut Athletic Trainers Association, Connecticut Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics and the Connecticut Concussion Task Force.

"As a parent of student-athletes and as a concussion educator, I have learned concussions are a part of life, sports and just being a kid,” said Snedaker, founder of Pink Concussions. “While there is no magic helmet to prevent concussions or drug to heal them, schools and parents are not powerless. Research now shows that proper concussion management at home and at school can really help students recover.”

The Concussion Conference will include training by a number of national experts to provide practical solutions and tools. Topics include solutions for schools, medical providers and coaches and parents involved in youth sports.

Brenda Eagan Brown will be the conference's keynote speaker. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and has received multiple awards for her work in pediatric TBI.
