DARIEN, Conn. -- The 10U Darien Diamonds softball team captured the Memorial Day Weekend 8 Team Tournament in Danbury by winning the championship.

The team swept the single elimination portion of the tournament, backed by balanced hitting from the entire lineup and strong pitching performances by both Brooke Romano and Delaney Das.

The Diamonds led wire-to-wire in each of the first two elimination games, but needed to rally back from a 4-1 deficit against the Danbury PAL Storm in the championship game.

With the score knotted at four heading into the final inning, the speedy Kate Min legged out a triple, before Kate Avitabile singled her home for the dramatic walk-off victory.
